Calgary police say speed and impairment are likely factors in a chain reaction crash that caused damage to seven parked vehicles.
Shortly after 2 a.m. Friday, a 2018 BMW M5 driven by a 19-year-old man was travelling on northbound Macleod Trail SW at a high rate of speed.
As the car approached 58 Avenue SW, it’s believed the driver tried to turn westbound onto 58 Avenue SW while fleeing a traffic stop.
According to investigators, the BMW hit the back of a parked vehicle, causing a chain reaction to more than half-a-dozen vehicles parked along the north curb of 58 Avenue SW.
The driver was arrested and charges are pending.
Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage of the incident is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234 or tip anonymously through CrimeStoppers.
