A 90-year-old man has died after being involved in a multi-vehicle crash in Calgary’s northwest Tuesday afternoon.

Officers responded to the intersection of Nose Hill Drive NW and Scenic Acres Boulevard NW around 3:30 p.m.

Investigators believe a 2024 Toyota RAV 4 was driving south on Nose Hill Drive NW while a 2004 Mini Cooper S was turning left from northbound Nose Hill Drive onto Scenic Acres Boulevard NW heading west.

The Toyota hit the Mini Cooper on the front passenger side, where the 90-year-old man was sitting. He was taken to hospital Tuesday in serious, life-threatening condition and later succumbed to his injuries.

Police say the driver and sole occupant of the Toyota, a 50-year-old woman, was left with minor injuries and taken to the hospital.

The 79-year-old woman who was driving the Mini Cooper and the 55-year-old man who was the rear passenger were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Speed, alcohol, and drugs aren’t believed to be factors in the crash.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has dashcam footage is asked to contact Calgary police or CrimeStoppers.
