Calgary police are advising the public of an anticipated increase in outlaw motorcycle gang members in the city this weekend.

Officials say a planned gathering of the Hells Angels Motorcycle club is happening in Calgary on Friday.

As a result, there will be an increased police presence throughout the city and officers will be monitoring the activities of those attending ensuring they follow the law, including the Traffic Safety Act.

The Calgary Police Service (CPS) says it doesn’t expect an increased risk to public safety during this time.

The service adds that motorcycle gangs host several events across Canada every year and in the past, these gatherings have happened without any issues.

However, CPS says the group will face the rules of law enforcement as any citizen would.

Police encourage Calgarians to report all suspicious activity concerning outlaw motorcycle gangs by calling 911 for a crime in progress, the non-emergency line at 403-266-1234 or tipping anonymously through CrimeStoppers.
