Calgary CF Chinook set a new world record for most pancakes flipped on Saturday, breaking the old record of eight hours in just over half the time.

The southwest mall made history on its 65th Stampede Breakfast by flipping 26,994 pancakes in four and a half hours.

Thousands were expected at the event at 7 a.m., billed as a chance to achieve a “milestone.”

“Let’s break a world record, Calgary! To celebrate our 65th Stampede Breakfast, we’re attempting to break the world record for the most pancakes served,” the event notice reads.

Darren Milne, the general manager of CF Chinook, says its 65-year Stampede breakfast history gave them a system that helped them set the new record, but it took more than experience.

“We’re able to achieve that record because we had great volunteer support, great support from our staff. But most importantly, Calgarians really came out and supported us,” he told 660 NewsRadio.

“We had a ton of people at the breakfast today and a lot of great entertainment.”

Those enjoying breakfast while celebrating the achievement were entertained by B.C. singer-songwriter Madeline Merlo, along with Tony Stevens, Nolan Compton, and a special performance by rising Airdrie country star Hayley Isabel.

Once the record was set in the morning, it took only an hour for the Guinness Book of World Records to present CF Chinook with a plaque commemorating the achievement.

“It was just a really fun morning all along, and capped off by the fact that we set the Guinness Book of World Records.”

The previous record was set just a few months ago on March 1, 2025, in Santa Monica. An IHOP set the previous record of 25,689 in eight hours.
