Environment Canada has issued a fog advisory for several areas, including Calgary, on Wednesday, saying it’s causing “near zero visibility.”
Meteorologists say that while the fog will make traffic hazardous in some locations, an update at 10:30 a.m. says its expected to dissipate sometime in the afternoon.
“Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced at times. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic,” the notice reads.
“Be prepared for areas of near-zero visibility and allow extra time to reach your destination.”
Areas include Airdrie, Bragg Creek, Tsuut’ina Nation, Wood Buffalo, Piikani Nation, and several areas in Foothills County.
Motorists are being asked to turn on their lights, to slow down, and maintain a safe following distance.
