One dead in multi-vehicle crash on rural highway NE of Calgary

One person is dead following a crash on a rural highway northeast of Calgary on Thursday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to Highway 27 near the Red Deer River, just west of the town of Morrin, around 2:30 p.m. for reports of serious collision.

Paramedics tell CityNews that multiple vehicles were involved and confirm one person was pronounced dead.

There is no word on any other injuries, or how many people were involved.

RCMP are asking motorists to avoid the area as they continue to investigate.
