A male cyclist has life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a vehicle in downtown Toronto.

Police say it happened at Church Street and Gerrard Street East just after 6:30 a.m. on Friday.

Investigators say a 28-year-old cyclist on an e-bike was going westbound on Gerrard while a 57-year-old was driving a silver Dodge Ram pickup southbound on Church when the two collided in the intersection.

The cyclist was taken to hospital with critical injuries while the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
