It’s set to be a night to remember at The Aud, as the Kitchener Rangers are honouring a legend before a game against the Saginaw Spirit under the Friday night lights.
It marks the first-ever Level of Legacy night, with the organization’s most successful head coach and general manager, Pete DeBoer, in town to receive the honour.
The team will raise a banner into the rafters and present a commemorative plaque to their former coach.
DeBoer won two OHL Championships and a Memorial Cup with the team before going on to have a successful two-decade career in the NHL.
The Rangers will honour former captain Brian Bellows at the next Level of Legacy ceremony in January.
On the ice, the Blueshirts are looking for their fourth win in a row after winning both their games last weekend, two shutouts against the Brampton Steelheads and the Sudbury Wolves.
The Spirit sit fourth in the West Division with a 6-6-3-2 record, though rookie phenom Nikita Klepov sits third in scoring in the OHL with 28 points.
