A fire at the Victoria Street encampment has been put out.

Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) said emergency crews were called to the area, near Weber Street, around 4:30 p.m. Friday.

In a statement to 570 NewsRadio, WRPS said the incident involved two tents and no physical injuries were reported.

The City of Kitchener has confirmed emergency services had been dispatched, and it was Kitchener Fire that handled the incident.

No further information has been provided.

There have been several fires over the years at the encampment, including one in January of this year, where no one was injured.
