Just as pumpkin spice season concludes and wintry weather heads to the region, the annual Santa Claus parades are announcing routes.

The Lions Club of Kitchener will host its floats on Saturday Nov. 15. It will kick off at 10:00 a.m. and run along Weber from Frederick to Erb streets. The community tradition asks people to bring their letter for Santa, food bank items and toys for the Knights of Columbus drive.

This year, the Lions Club is asking people to bring new mitts, hats and warm clothing to support the Region’s Paramedics collecting clothing for Sanguen Health Centre.

Those wanting to make a whole day of holiday festivities can then head to Cambridge for its annual Santa Claus parade on Nov. 15. It’s set to kick off at 6:00 p.m. sharp and run along Hespeler Road between Dunbar Road and Langs Drive.

“This holiday tradition continues as a special nighttime parade, one of few in Ontario where the twinkle and glow of magical parade floats, groups and bands sparkle in the eyes of all to see,” the City of Cambridge said on its website.

Just before Saint Nick heads to his float, he will stop by and chat between 3:30 and 5:45 p.m. in the Cambridge Centre parking lot.

“But don’t be late, because at 5:45 sharp, Santa’s hopping on his sleigh to lead the big parade,” the city notes.

The parade will be collecting nonperishable food items along the route. The municipality is also asking for people to sign up to help, saying multiple volunteer positions are still available.
